…is but the preparation for your being filled.
Your emptiness…
As I write this, I am feeling empty. In my case that means fatigued, weary, tank depleted.
Maybe your emptiness is for another reason:
Lost a job
Bank account depleted
Torn down by others
Tired of fighting
Weary of work
Here’s some great news: Your emptiness is but the preparation for your being filled.
That’s not only according to C. H. Spurgeon, the “Prince of Preachers.”
It’s also Biblical.
The Bible says:
“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18 ESV)
Your emptiness is God’s opportunity to fill you with the Holy Spirit.
This verse is a command: we are to seek the filling of the Holy Spirit. To learn about how to be filled, see these articles
Jesus said, “Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)” (John 7:38-39 NLT)
May you know the fullness of the Holy Spirit when your emptiness leaves you aching for more.
By the way, I already feel energized by the Spirit after feeling empty earlier when I started writing.
