The Bible makes it quite clear that hell is real. In fact, Jesus spoke clearly about hell in passages such as Matthew 25:31-46. Jesus said, “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.” (Matthew 25:46 NLT). So since hell is real according to God’s Word, what is a Christian’s mission? We address that question in this podcast.

Is everyone heaven-bound since “Jesus paid it all?” This is a new teaching among some who call themselves Christians. Some have begun preaching an “Evangelical Universalism” meaning they claim to believe the Scriptures, but believe that everyone is saved and heaven-bound. But is there any truth to it?

This question is very controversial: Can born again Christians be demonized? Some feel strongly that it is impossible. They are almost offended by the question. Others aren’t so sure. Still others feel this is very much possible and happens frequently.

Bishop Garry Bryant

Many thanks to my guest Bishop Garry Bryant for giving some great responses in answer to this question of whether or not born again Christians can be demonized.

To listen to this podcast just hit the play button above.

Who is Garry?

Garry Bryant is a native Virginian and the son of a Pentecostal Holiness Minister. He has served as a Senior Pastor, as Conference Christian Education Director, and as Bishop of Redemption Ministries. His ministry goal is to raise-up the body of Christ in effective ministry to carry out the Great Commission.  Garry and his wife LaDawn have two children, Dreama and Garryt. They reside in Oklahoma City, OK, where Garry presently serves as Assistant Director for EVUSA with the International Pentecostal Holiness Church and as the National Field Director of ACTS2DAY Ministries.

Garry and I recently traveled together to India. While there we sat down and chatted about the issue of demonization in general in the last podcast. Then we recorded this second podcast on the question of whether or not genuine Christians can be demonized.

The following Scripture passages relate to the issue of born again Christians being demonized:

1 Corinthians 10:20But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that you should have fellowship with devils.”

1 Peter 5:8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4 ESV)

The next day an evil[a] spirit from God came forcefully on Saul. He was prophesying in his house, while David was playing the lyre, as he usually did. Saul had a spear in his hand and he hurled it, saying to himself, ‘I’ll pin David to the wall.’ But David eluded him twice.” (1 Samuel 18:10-11 NIV)

“Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet. Then Peter said, ‘Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God.’ When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. Then the young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him. About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. Peter asked her, ‘Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?’ ‘Yes,’ she said, ‘that is the price.’ Peter said to her, ‘How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.’ At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.” (Acts 5:1-11)
